Books Are Magic is a family-owned independent bookstore in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and we are committed to being a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive space for all people. We believe that books are indeed magic, and that literature is the best way to create empathy, transportation, and transformation. We are enthusiastic about offering thoughtfully selected voices and stories on our shelves, and about hosting free and affordable events featuring emerging writers as well as long-adored authors. Books Are Magic is a place for children to feel comfortable, for young readers to grow into lifelong readers, and for our neighbors to be introduced to vibrant new books.
About
Books Are Magic was born in May 2017 and is home to exciting new releases and beloved classics, hidey-holes for children and books to read in them, gumballs filled with poetry, readings and panels almost every night of the week and storytimes on the weekends, and yes, plenty of magic.
Emma Straub and Michael Fusco-Straub live and work in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, and Books Are Magic is their third child. Their two sons are very excited about the new addition to the family.
